WHO WE
ARE:
APAP-ALCALÁ IS A NON-PROFIT
PRIVATE ENTITY
It
has been legally incorporated and registered with the Registry
of Associations of the Community of Madrid under number 2995.
It is a member of the Board of Animal Protection and Welfare
of the Community of Madrid, a consultative and advisory authority
on animals, formed by representatives from the Regional Ministry
of the Environment, Directorate General of Agriculture, Federation
of Municipalities, SEPRONA, Royal Dog Society, Animal Protection
Associations and the Veterinary Associations AMVAC, AVEPA
and the Veterinary Medical Association
It forms part of the Federation of Associations for Animal
Protection and Defence in the Community of Madrid (FAPA),
founded in Madrid in 1999.
IT IS FUNDED BY CONTRIBUTIONS MADE BY THE MEMBERS,
SUPPORTERS AND SYMPATHIZERS. IT HAS A SHELTER FOR ABANDONED
DOGS
The shelter and adoption centre is managed by a team of volunteers;
we work to make this animal protection centre a decent shelter,
where our animals feel protected, are fed, have a clean place,
where they get veterinary assistance, training, exercise and
a lot of love, while they wait to be re-homed.
As one of our main aims, we want to provide the dogs in our
shelter with a decent life in the shelter, as we are aware
that, for some of them, the shelter will be their home for
a long time. We want it to be a place where dogs with a problem
may improve and recover. We want it to be a stepping stone
to prepare them for adoption.
Our
dogs ARE NOT PUT TO SLEEP, except for specific
cases, a terminal disease or if there is no cure for them
and this prevents them from having a normal and decent life,
and always following the advice of a veterinary surgeon and
without causing any suffering to the animal.
Our shelter has a special area where newly arrived dogs are
isolated. During the quarantine several tests are done to
the dog, the dog is vaccinated, dewormed externally and internally,
and neutered. Once his/her general condition has been checked
and his/her character has been assessed, the dog is moved
to an area where he/she will share his/her life with other
dogs.
Dogs are assigned to different kennels made of brick and
with insulated wooden floors, with individual areas where
the dogs can walk and a bigger common area where the dogs
can run and play. This will be their new home until a new
and final home is found for them.
The main aim of the Association is to offer ANOTHER OPPORTUNITY
to abandoned animals, to find a new home for them, and to
make sure that re-homed dogs are not abandoned or badly treated
again. Please, visit our Happy Ending section. We also work
to make our society aware and to educate it to respect and
look after “our best friends” by doing several campaigns,
giving courses, lectures at universities and schools, etc.
If
you would like to help us carry on doing this work for abandoned
animals we are currently in urgent need of donations to build
a new shelter for our friends. At present we are renting a
piece of land where our shelter is located but we are trying
to build a final, safe and modern place for them, while we
find a new home for them.
You can make donations to the following bank account. Please,
write "New Shelter" in the reference line:

APAP-ALCALA
Dear friends:
APAP-ALCALA needs your help to make our dream come true.
The installations of our animal welfare are located on a rented
plot of land, which we must leave within one year, for which
reason we will soon start the construction works for a new
shelter. This new shelter will attempt to make for the deficiencies
in the current shelter, improve the life of the animals there
and guarantee a stable future for them, safe from any unexpected
event. But this project is not simple and we need all possible
collaboration. For this reason we want to share our dream
with you, for you to help us with the huge financial effort
entailed in the construction of our new shelter.
Therefore, we encourage you to make an effort and help us
finance our dream, even if you think that you can do very
little… for the animals it is very important.
- Donations may be general or specifically for the construction
of a particular area. For this, we have calculated the unit
price for each space of the various modules:
Module Price
Kennels € 1,500
Quarantine and post-operation recovery € 2,000
Walking area (price per area) € 2,500
Once the construction works have been completed each module
will have a plaque with the names of all the people and companies
that have made financial contributions to finance the new
shelter:
o For the people or companies who contribute the full amount
of one kennel, if they thus wish, there will be a personalised
plaque with their names or the name of the animal chosen by
them.
o All the people who make a contribution shall be registered,
if they thus wish, in a common plaque which we will have in
the new shelter. In the meantime we have this virtual appreciation
plaque where you will see your names.
When you make the contribution it is important to write your
name and surnames and to provide a telephone number where
it says “Concepto”.
… And, finally, OUR ACCOUNT:
